Relax. Your first draft doesn't have to be perfect. You will have time to revise later.

Use a character sketch template to create your first draft.

1. Beginning

Name the title and the author.
Introduce the character and write your focus statement.

2. Middle

Describe the character by using one or more of the following strategies. Describe the character's appearance; show how the character changes during the story; or describe the character's personality, strengths, weaknesses, and goals.

3. Ending

Restate the focus and summarize the main points.
