Character Sketch: Prewriting

The first step in writing is having something to write about. You'll need to and plan your character sketch before you are ready to write.

1. Choose a Topic

Choose a character to write about.

2. Gather Details

Use a person/character chart to gather information about your character.

3. Write a Focus Statement

Write a sentence that describes the character.

4. Write Topic Sentences

List main points about the character.
Write a topic sentence for each main point.

5. Create an Outline

Use an outline to organize the details of your character sketch.
