Research Report: Writing

Remind your students that the first draft doesn't have to be perfect. They will have time to revise later.

Students can use a research report template to create a first draft.

1. Beginning

Introduce the topic in an interesting way.
Lead up to your thesis statement.

2. Middle

Write a topic sentence for each middle paragraph.
Include details in a logical order.
Use parenthetical references to cite sources of information.

3. Ending

Reflect on the meaning of the information.
Leave the reader with something to think about.
