Plot Summary: Revising


Writing doesn't end with the first draft. Next, students will need to revise. When they revise, they should evaluate their work for ideas, organization, voice, word choice, and sentence fluency.


1. Ideas

Have I selected an interesting topic?
Have I included enough details?


2. Organization

Do my details appear in chronological (time) order?
Do I use transitions to make my organization clear?


3. Voice

Does my voice show my interest in the topic?
Does my voice fit my audience (not too formal or too casual)?


4. Word Choice

Do I use specific nouns and active verbs?
Have I carefully chosen adjectives and adverbs?


5. Sentence Fluency

Have I written clear, complete sentences?
Have I combined short, choppy sentences?
Have I varied sentence beginnings?


6. Feedback

Has someone read my work and filled out a response form?
Have I incorporated the feedback into my work?
