Informative Essay: Writing


Remind your students that the first draft doesn't have to be perfect. They will have time to revise later.


Students can use an informative essay template to create a first draft.

1. Beginning

Grab the reader's attention.
Write your focus statement.


2. Middle

Answer the reader's basic questions about the topic: Who? What? Where? When? Why? How?
Let your outline guide you.


3. Ending

Sum up what the reader has learned.
Inspire the reader to want to know more about the topic.
