"In a case that could well affect the outcome of an election for the highest office in the land, the Florida Supreme Court chose to rewrite the laws established by the Florida legislature and to substitute its judgments for those made by the executive branch of that state. The court's action disregards the most fundamental principles of our democracy, undermining both the separation of powers and the right of the people to a representative form of government."
