Andrew Cuomo
Andrew Cuomo, son of former New York governor Mario Cuomo, was most prominent as Secretary of Housing and Urban Development under President Clinton.
Born December 6, 1957, and raised in Queens, NY, Andrew Cuomo went on to earn his B.A. in1979 from Fordham University and his J.D. from Albany Law School in 1982. Cuomo is married to Kerry Kennedy and has three girls, twins Cara and Mariah and younger daughter Michaela Andrea.
An essential force behind federal "empowerment zones" and HUD's restructuring in the 1990s, Cuomo also served as HUD's assistant secretary for Community Planning and Development between 199396. He was head of the New York City Commission on the Homeless in 1991 and founded "Housing Enterprise for the Less Privileged" (H.E.L.P.). Cuomo also served as assistant district attorney in Manhattan in 1984 and special assistant to his father in various campaigns for governor. Cuomo himself is poised to run for governor of New York in 2002.
